This week’s reflection
What do you like to do or make when you’re working?
Share your thoughts below — and read what others are saying.
This category has to do with work—the work we have to do and the work we’re called to do. But it also has to do with the extra element of service and what it is to imbue all work with the deeper desire to serve with love.❤️
So on July 26, 2023, the kids were asked to reflect on how the simplest thing, if it’s done with love, can be a way to serve your brothers and sisters. We asked them in meditation to think about some simple chore that they do and later in the week, asked them how it made them feel?
These were the answers from the Mushunga Community Project:

The importance of cottage industries:
On March 24, 2025, we brought the kids attention around to Gandhi again and to the importance that he placed on village industries over mass production. He felt very strongly that it was very important for cottage industries to flourish and create more self-sufficiency and fairness in terms of income–especially for rural areas like the ones the kids live in. So we asked them to reflect on that teaching and to look around to see how people made a living where they live with this question in mind: Why are small businesses important in rural areas? ❤️😇❤️
