What would you like to do to make the future better for everybody?
Share your thoughts below — and read what others are saying.
In this category we’re working with the kids to help them learn to visualize the future when they’re in prayer and meditation. The first question was sent on August 15, 2023, and I asked them to reflect on the future and the one thing that they would love to see happen. These were some replies:
From Tonny at the Mushunga Community Project:
Annitah said that she would be happy to see that she had finished her studies and could get a job. She wants her dreams to come true so she she can start lifting up other orphans like herself.🫶
Vincent said that he would like to see himself succeeding in the future in all he does. 👍
Ashiram said he would like to see himself helping other orphans like he is being helped. 👩❤️👨
Then Peace said she would want to pray so that in the future there cannot be orphans like her.🙏

Thinking big about future peace at Mushunga:

The kids at Savannah Rose would invent the spread of peace in these imaginative ways:

13 Salima: A “Drone” that flies around, dropping leaflets with peaceful messages and images, encouraging people to stop fighting and work together.☮️
Looking at my future in two ways:
On Friday, November 22, 2024, The kids were encouraged to think about the value of looking at one thing in several ways so the question was: What are two different ways that you think about your future?❤️😇❤️
The kids at Savannah Rose could imagine their futures play out in these different ways:
1. Francis:
I think I might become a doctor and help people feel better, but maybe I could also be someone who invents machines to fix broken bones.👩🏽⚕️
I also imagine building a house with a secret room where I can read and think about my dreams.🏡
2. Jeremiah:
Maybe I’ll be a teacher and show kids how to make things like toys. But sometimes, I think about being a footballer too.👩🏽🏫
I wonder if one day I’ll live in a city or near a forest full of animals.🦓
3. Victor:
I might grow up to be an engineer who makes roads that go through mountains, but sometimes I think of becoming a storyteller who writes books.📚
I picture myself on a stage talking about my inventions, or maybe in a quiet place planting flowers.🌸
4. Salima:
I dream about being a nurse and helping babies, but sometimes I wonder if I’ll end up running a shop full of shiny and colorful things.👩🏽⚕️
Maybe I’ll live near the ocean, or maybe I’ll have a tiny farm with lots of chickens.🐣
5. Mark:
I think I’ll fly planes and travel everywhere, but what if I become someone who makes flying cars instead🛩️
Maybe I’ll visit space, or maybe I’ll stay here and build bridges for people.🌉
6. Desilanta:
I imagine myself as a scientist finding cures for diseases, but what if I make robots that help people instead?🤖
Maybe I’ll live in a city with tall buildings, or on an island surrounded by palm trees.🌴
7. Shalom:
I might be a pastor and tell people about heaven, but sometimes I think I’ll grow up and teach kids how to sing instead.✝️
Maybe I’ll travel to faraway places and tell stories, or maybe I’ll stay here and help people plant gardens.🌱
8. Erizeth:
I might become a fashion designer and make sparkling dresses, but what if I end up drawing pictures for books?👘
I wonder if I’ll have a workshop with colorful fabrics, or a house where I paint on all the walls.🏠
9. Rihanna:
I dream of singing on a big stage, but sometimes I think I could also teach others how to sing.🎶
Maybe I’ll write songs about birds and rainbows, or maybe I’ll travel and sing to children everywhere.🌈
10. Kyatwike:
I think I’ll be a chef and cook amazing food, but what if I end up making sweets that everyone loves?🥙
Maybe I’ll live in a house with a kitchen full of spices, or I could live on a farm and grow all my food.🌽
11. Christopher:
I might drive a big truck and explore new roads, but maybe I’ll also fly helicopters one day.🚛
I imagine driving across deserts and mountains, or maybe building cars that never break down.🚙
12. Benjamin:
I think I’ll be a policeman and keep people safe, but sometimes I think I could also be a superhero!🦸🏾♂️
Maybe I’ll have a dog as my partner, or maybe I’ll work in a place full of gadgets.🦮

Thinking about the future and how..
On February 18, 2025, we helped the kids to remember Gandhi again and especially about how he thought about the larger consequences of small acts
and how very small actions on everybody’s part can impact our world in large ways. So we asked the kids to imagine the world in the future,
and to think about the small acts that they would love to see themselves and others do to make the world better. What would they be? 😇❤️
Small acts:
The kids at Savannah Rose envisioned how others could help make everyone’s future better
through these small acts:
Erizeth – “I would love to see everyone planting trees so that we have more shade and fresh air.”🌳
Rihanna – “I want people to always share food with those who don’t have enough, so no one goes hungry.”🍑
Kyatwike – “Helping someone when they fall or need a hand can make the world a kinder place.”😊
Christopher – “If everyone picked up just one piece of trash every day, our world would be so clean!”💧
Benjamin – “I wish people would always say kind words instead of hurting each other with mean words.”❤️
Flowrence – “I want everyone to take care of animals and never hurt them, because they need love too.”🐕
Victor – “If we all smiled more and greeted each other nicely, the world would feel happier.”☺️
Jeremiah – “Helping an old person carry something heavy or crossing the road safely is a small act that matters.”👨🏽🦳
Desilanta – “I think if we all shared books and helped each other learn, the world would be smarter.”📚
Mark – “I want to see everyone turning off taps so that we don’t waste water, because water is life!”💦
Francis – “I dream of a world where no one fights, and we all solve problems by talking.”🗣️
Salima – “If everyone planted flowers, the world would be colorful and beautiful!”🌸
Shalom – “I wish people would always say ‘thank you’ and ‘please’ because good manners make the world nice.”😇
Kindness makes things better at Mushunga:
The kids at Mushunga thought about how these small actions would make a big difference in their future world:
Godwin K.
“I think everyone should be kind to each other. If we are nice to people, it can make them happy, and they will be nice to others too. That will help make the world a better place!”😇
Anitah N.
“I want everyone to learn how to sweep for our sanitation. If we all help to clean, the world will be so much prettier, and the animals will be happy because they won’t eat it.”🧹
Albert G.
“I would love to see people share more. If we all share our toys, our food, and our love, everyone will feel good and be happy.”🧸
Ameria A.
“Maybe we should plant more trees! Trees help the air, and animals can live in them. It would make the world cleaner and happier.🌳
Ajuna M.
“I think if we all say ‘sorry’ when we hurt someone, that can help make the world better. Saying sorry can make people feel better, and then everyone can be friends.”😔
Ignitius W.
“I want to see people helping each other when they fall down. If we help our friends, they will feel better, and then we can all be happy together.”🙌🏾
Ashiram S.
“I would love if everyone is happy. When people become happy, it makes everyone feel good, and the world can be a happier place.”😊
Tobius A.
“I think it would be great if we all helped our guardians at home. If we help with chores, they will be happy, and our homes will be nice and clean.”🧑🏽🍼
Angella N.
“I think we should always be kind to animals. If everyone loves and takes care of them, animals will be happy, and that will make the world better.”🐕
Rachael T.
“Maybe we could all learn how to paint good paintings and share them with our friends. It helps people learn how to draw and also make new things,
and we can talk about them and get smarter together!”🎨
Caroline T.
“I would love if people always said ‘excuse me’ when they bump into someone. It makes everyone feel good, and it’s a small way to show we care.”😔
Elisha T.
“I think we should be nice to people who are sad. If we cheer them up, we can make them happy, and then they will feel better.”🩷
Philemon A.
“Maybe we could all help clean the playground! If everyone picks up after themselves, it will be so nice, and everyone can play in a clean place.”💧
Blessing A.
“I think we should always help others when they need something. If we give and help people, we make the world full of love and kindness.”🙌🏾
Gift K.
“I want people to always listen to each other. If we listen carefully, we will understand better, and everyone will feel important.”👂🏼
Rosette N.
“I think it would be nice if people always told the truth. If we all told the truth, then we would trust each other more, and the world would be peaceful.”🗣️
